One of the best things about starting college is your new school email or, more specifically, the student discounts that come from having a .edu email address. There are hundreds of student discounts for hundreds of different websites and online retailers, some worth it and some not. In an effort to help you navigate these offers, we have compiled a list of the best online student discount offers!

Subscriptions

Let’s be honest, leaving home doesn’t mean you are going to give up your parent’s Netflix password, but there are some streaming services that offer student discounts that can help you step up your TV game.

Hulu + Spotify Premium

Hulu and Spotify have come together to offer all college students their services for just $4.99 a month. With this subscription, you get access to Spotify Premium and Hulu. With Spotify Premium, you can stream music and podcasts without the interruptions of ads which is perfect for your walk to class. This subscription also includes a Hulu membership. While this is just the basic membership, you are given access to endless shows and movies, including Hulu originals. A basic membership to Hulu comes to $5.99 a month and a Spotify Premium membership is $9.99. Needless to say, this is an amazing deal and absolutely worth your $4.99 a month.

Apple Music

If you're not a fan of Spotify, Apple Music also offers a discount to college students. With your student email, you can have access to Apple’s music streaming service for $4.99 a month. With your subscription, you get access to Apple’s music library ad free. You also have the ability to download and listen to music and podcasts offline. Also, with your subscription you get 6 months of free access to Apple TV!

CBS All Access

CBS All Access is another streaming platform that offers discounts to students. With a student email, you get 25% off of your monthly membership fee. With the app, you are able to stream CBS shows as well as live TV and shows from Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and MTV.

Online Shopping

Amazon Prime

I hate to admit it, but Jeff Bezos really out did himself with this one. With a prime membership, students get a 6-month free trial and then pay half the price of a normal membership. I know that everyone already loves Amazon, so I don’t need to sell you. Amazon is another great resource for students because you have the ability to rent textbooks. Because of Amazon, I have not stepped foot in my school’s overpriced bookstore since freshman year. Get our textbooks sent right to your door and then send them back at the end of the semester; all you have to do is pay the rental fee. With your membership, you also have access to Prime Video, as well as discounted access to Showtime and Amazon Music.

Best Buy

Best Buy has a program called “Student Deals” that helps you save money on all of the tech that you will need when you start your college career. It is free to join; all you have to do is sign up with your student email.

ASOS

Whether you are an incoming college freshman looking to change up your look or a senior applying to and looking for jobs, your wardrobe is likely always changing. While the thrifting aesthetic is great, sometimes is nice to get a new item of clothing that has never been worn, but that comes at a price. With ASOS, this price gets cut by 10% with a student email. If you sent up your account with a .edu email address, you automatically et 10% off of every purchase you make. So, you can save money and try out new pieces and add to your wardrobe!

Obviously, there are hundreds of student discounts out there, all you have to do is ask! College is hard enough on your wallet, don’t make it any harder. That new student id and school email are as good as gold.
