This blog post wasn’t meant to be written to tell you why a college education is important or even to persuade you to go to college. The purpose of this blog is to show you why the idea of education itself is important. Whether if you are in academia or teaching yourself from books, education is something that you should value and continue to prioritize for the rest of your life.
There are many cases in which people graduate high school and discontinue their learning for the majority of their life. They may learn a skill set that they apply to their career, but they never really seek out education for their personal growth and mind development. The same holds true for those that go to a university.
The importance of education is that it allows us to be a part of our society and is necessary for the continued development of our future generations. This is what helps us make better decisions as adults that will ultimately impact our society. When we are faced with a problem and are able to use critical thinking skills that we have developed through education, we are far more likely to get through it. Not to mention that this is where we can develop our own self-dependency and form our own decisions and opinions through our experiences and the way that we get through them.
Education brings forth a lot of positive things into our society. For instance, when we educate ourselves in different areas of our lives and learn from each other, we begin to see things from different perspectives based off of other people’s backgrounds and cultures. Doing this is what helps us get closer to achieving equality for all and eventually turns into a modern society. Being educated doesn’t just mean that you are smart, but it also means that you are more open to other people’s ideas and opinions, whether if you agree with them or not. This is something that is also achieved with time and developing in maturity, but ultimately educating ourselves on other things that we are not accustomed to is what will make everyone’s life a lot better in the end.
All in all, education is something that we should prioritize and make a staple in our lives. Education isn’t gained just from books but also from the experiences that we go through. We learn something new every single day, and when we actively try to become better every day by learning new things, then we will achieve great things in our lives and for our society. By the time you are done reading this blog, I want to encourage you to try learning something new. It can be something simple or something complex, but the main point to note is to challenge your mind to think critically. Only then will you be on your way to becoming a better version of yourself.
